It has become apparent that there NEEDS to be at least 2 emergency fill in's  for ALL bingos . If you are available to be an IN CASE OF EMERGENCY VOLUNTEER for a bingo please let Heather Birkbeck know. With winter driving conditions and life's curve balls, this is a necessity! You would ONLY be called in an ABSOLUTE EMERGENCY if on the emergency list!

Important Information

Bingos are optional, but, for every shift that you work at a Bingo that you work, your athlete's account will receive a credit.

Revised*****Beginning January 2011, the credit will be worth $75. per Bingo shift.  The Club expects the credit amount per bingo to be fairly stable, but will notify you immediately if the rate changes, and that will be for bingos from that date forward (prospectively) .  See below for the fine print.

The Fine Print

1.      Bingos are expected to be optional. There is a remote chance that, if the bingo coordinator cannot consistently fill the bingos, we may need to ask families to do a certain minimum number.

2.      A Bingo event is one shift.  Afternoon shifts begin at 10:45 a.m., Evening shifts begin at 4:15 pm, and Late shifts begin at 9:15 pm. Double shifts are expected if you start at 4:15 pm. If you are in the cage you must arrive 15 minutes earlier.

3.      The actual amount of the Bingo credit may vary depending on how profitable the Bingos are.  Based on the earnings history at the current casino, we have amended the "Torpedo Credit" to $75. for each shift.

4.      In order for your child's account to receive the credit, it is critical that you sign in on the bingo hall's sign in sheet printing your name legibly so we can see who you are. If someone works on your behalf, ensure they put down both names (e.g.  Johnny Smith working for Cheryl Barclay). The Chairperson is responsible for letting Heather Birkbeck know who worked the shift.

5.      If you are a no show your account will be charged $100 for every shift you are scheduled to work that day. This applies even if you are sick, unfortunately.  No-shows cause the Club to receive fines and demerits from the hall, not to mention creating issues with Alberta Gaming.  If you can find a replacement, there is no fine to your account.  You must notify Heather Birkbeck if you have found an alternate.

6.      Bingo Credits cannot be refunded to you as cash. At the end of the year, if you end up in a credit position as a result of bingo credits that credit must be used against next year's costs. If your athlete does not continue in water polo, the bingo credits will disappear.

7.      Initially, the Bingo Coordinator will post the schedule and provide everyone with a fair opportunity to work a basic number of bingos.  Beyond that, you can work as many shifts as the Bingo Co-ordinator can find for you.

8.      The above program applies to the Torpedoes only, Renegades and Community clubs will have different ways of allocating bingos, and you should take note of your other clubs' programs.

Casinos are a major source of revenue for the Torpedoes and bringing in roughly $60,000 each time. That money pays for our pool time, and our coaches. Casinos are only available approximately every 18 months.  We are asking for an undated cheque for $200 that we will only cash if you do not fulfill your casino commitment.

Those parents whose boys participate in the Team Alberta Program you should also consider volunteering for the AWPA casinos.
